Youngsters got the chance to take part in free wheelchair skills workshops

in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds last week.

The annual workshops, run by national charity Go Kids Go, saw the children take part in a variety of games such as wheelchair basketball and wheelchair dancing.

 

 

The children also got to learn a host of wheelchair skills including back wheel balancing which allows them to go up and down kerbs, helping them to gain more independence.

 

 

Extra wheelchairs were provided for mums, dads, brothers and sisters to join in with the games too.

 

 

The sessions were held at Ipswich Academy on Thursday, February 17 and at King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday, February 16.

 

 

The charity’s patron, Ade Adeptian MBE, television presenter and wheelchair basketball player, was one of the first young wheelchair users to join the charity on one of its courses.

 

Years later he acts as a role model for children who attend the workshops.
