The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK) (WDSA (UK)) in conjunction with Herts Disability Sport Hub and Hertfordshire County Council ran a fun and inclusive Tea Dance at Hatfield Leisure Centre on the 12th April 2016. The events were designed to promote and develop wheelchair dance and wheelchair dance sport for disabled people as well as able bodied people in the community and around Hertfordshire.
Fred Chak Marketing Director for the WDSA (UK) said “it was inspiring and fun to see a range of the Hertfordshire community to come together and be active and have fun. The event enables individuals from a range of abilities and areas to come together.”
A representative from one of the local Day services said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for the resident and something we really want to develop in the community to continue the fun and activity the individuals had at this great event. We hope other services in the area can see the benefit of this fantastic sport.
We hope more organisations working in the community will see the sport of Wheelchair Dance as a great activity to engage and develop children and adults from a range of back grounds and abilities in a number of community groups that like us will look to develop this sport and look to support and nurture their residents and community to take part, be active and compete in wheelchair dance sport.
