Join us and Leonard Cheshire Wales on Facebook Saturday 13 February at 5 pm for the live stream of Wales’ only inclusive dance competition, Strictly Cymru 2020.
9 acts will shake and shimmy in a bid to raise the Glitterball and be crowned Strictly Cymru Champion 2020.
From October 2019 to February 2020 we traveled Wales, hosting heats from Anglesey to Newport, teaching over 230 people to dance everything from Latin to ballroom with a bit of disco thrown in the mix.
Patrick McGeough CEO for Para Dance UK said “ all the participants have taken part in Strictly Cymru showed their love and enjoyment of dance and this final we hope will inspire and show others that they not on their own and that we can all continue to keep dancing no matter what is going on”.
Covid can’t stop the beat!
Lockdown may have stopped us from delivering our grand final in Llanelli’s Sir Gar theatre, but it could not stop the determination of our dancers!
We turned kitchens, living rooms, school halls, and bedrooms into virtual dance studios as our finalists worked with their wonderful dance instructors from Para Dance UK to learn routines and get performance ready.
The results are remarkable! Tune in and find out how everyone got on.
Strictly Cymru gives participants the opportunity to try something new, build confidence and meet new people. It encourages physical activity for wellbeing and positive mental health. For many of our participants Strictly Cymru was their only connection with the outside world during these very isolating times.
