Para Dance UK is happy to announce our new Head Adjudicator as Martin Bird.
Martin who is a Fellow of the UKA and a British Dance Council Chairman of Adjudicators will be taking over the reins from our previous Head Adjudicator Louise Sampson who has supported Para Dance UK since 2012 and who will continue to support and work for Para Dance UK as one of its Ambassadors. Martin has a wealth of experience and knowledge around Dance Sport and before turning professional in 2010, Martin had competed in Ballroom, Latin, and Classical Sequence since the age of 10. Martin has won the Inter Varsity Dance Competition for 3 consecutive years in Ballroom, whilst in Classical Sequence, he was twice British Amateur and twice British Professional Champion.
As a professional Martin has been a dance promoter since 2011, running the South of England Championships, and has been recognised for his contribution to dance as a Carl Alan and Le Classique de Danse Award Winner. Martin said: “I am pleased to become Head Adjudicator for Para dance UK and continue the work Louise has started to engage and empowering the disability community to see that no matter what your ability maybe you can achieve great things! With Martin supporting the charity, Para Dance UK looks forward to harnessing his skills and experience to enable Para Dance Sport to become an activity that is open to all and that can develop and grow to show that anyone can dance, have fun and be the best they can be.
