Glitz and Glamour at the Suomi Open

The glitz and glamour of wheelchair dance continued with the second event of the season at the Suomi Open in Lohja, Finland. Beauty was abound as dancers took to the floor to strut their stuff for the judges. Incredible talent was on display along with technical skills of the very highest standard.

The Ukrainian world title wining pairing of Nadiia and Ivan Sivak returned to their winning form. They blew away the competition gaining double gold in the duo Latin and the duo standard.

Russian world champions Maksim Sedakov and Galina Ryzhkova also continued with their superb winning streak, started at the opening of the season in April.

Sedakov won the men’s single 2 then with partner Svetlana Kukushina, he collected gold again by winning the combi Latin 2.

Ryzhkova was outstanding in the women’s single combined, earning her gold in the tango, samba, rumba and jive.

Overall, at this event, Russia led with eight medals, four which were gold. Ukraine came second with five, and Austria and Finland had three each.
