Para Dance UK is the National Governing body for Para Dance Sport.
Para Dance Sport covers Ballroom and Latin. Freestyle has been added in recent years. Athletes will compete in different classes in varied medal competitions.
Internationally, Para Dance Sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and co-ordinated by World Para Dance Sport’s Technical Committee which incorporates the rules of the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF). The sport is not part of the Paralympic games but is one of four sports applying to be added to the Paris 2024 program.
To be recognised, all competitions in the UK, whether they are regional, national or international, must be approved by Para Dance UK.
The National Championships are held every year, usually in the winter months.
The last National Championships were held on the 11th November 2017, the date for 2018’s competition is soon to be announced!
